Chapter Two : FRICTIONS BEGINS
1970 - 1980
Chapter Two will discuss accounts during Busia’s ruling in Ghana and the frequent foreign loans from American and the UK that the Ghanaian government signed. This will be contrasted with the account of one interviewee’s first perception of the west as his brother returned from America. Seeing him influenced his decision to migrate alongside wanted to obtain a ‘western’ look (jeans, gold chain and jerry curls). Portraits of the style during this period will be recreated alongside a scene with a vinyl player in a room playing music.
